Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16
Editor's Note
A few months ago, brother Johnny Elmore asked me to work on preserving some old cassette tape recordings of sermons by brother Lynwood Smith. He sent me a few boxes of cassettes, with varying content. Among these, not only were there several precious recordings of brother Lynwood, but so far, I have also found a recording of the midnight singing from the Oklahoma City New Year Meeting in 1984. This recording is a treasure as you will hear brother Lynwood and brother Johnny conducting the singing. I am still working on the rest of these cassettes given to me by Johnny, but in light of his departure, I wanted to share these now with the brotherhood.
In loving memory of Johnny Elmore
A Part of God's Great Plan
'Tis a part of God's great plan when raging billows wildly sweep,
Maybe they are sent to drive us to His care for He can keep;
And to help us know our helplessness and all the things God can,
And it surely is a part of God's great plan.
'Tis a part of God's great plan to have the thorn upon the rose,
I have never known just why 'tis so, but thus it always grows;
But I know somehow in God's great love He knows the best for man,
And it surely is a part of God's great plan.
"Tis a part of God's great plan when loved ones here must say goodbye,
And I often wonder, but I do not know the reason why,
But the One who feeds the sparrows surely He will care for man,
And it surely is a part of God's great plan.
All the mysteries of life, calm and then the bitter strife,
Why the lovely flowers come and bloom and wither then away;
There are many mysteries so far beyond my knowledge span,
And is surely is a part of God's great plan.
Maybe they are sent to drive us to His care for He can keep;
And to help us know our helplessness and all the things God can,
And it surely is a part of God's great plan.
'Tis a part of God's great plan to have the thorn upon the rose,
I have never known just why 'tis so, but thus it always grows;
All the mysteries of life, calm and then the bitter strife,
Why the lovely flowers come and bloom and wither then away;

I took some time to scan all of Johnny's songs from the songbooks which I own and compiled them in this PDF. Feel free to download it and enjoy his wonderful music.

New Year Meeting 1984 - Midnight Singing
Additional Song Recordings
These two songs were recorded along on a cassette along with brother Lynwood Smith's sermon "Holy Ground". If I am not mistaken, I am fairly sure you can hear brother Lynwood Smith and brother Johnny Elmore fairly clearly in these recordings. These recordings are from 1983 in Clovis California.
